Let There Be Music...

Acoustic music has been my passion for the last 12 years. These days much too much electronic garbage passes for music and it is reassuring to know that some people keep up the traditions - in my case only trying to.

I put together a few MP3 samples of some of my favourite tunes. All single takes recorded on either a guitar, mandolin or both.

No big deal, just some real music, done with wood and steel...

I play most Thursday nights at the Tower, a Collingwood pub on the corner of Alexander Ave and Wellington St – just at the end of the Eastern Freeway. This is a kind of a ‘friends only’ gig with some a few good Melbourne musos doing what they love doing. Check it out most Thur nights from 8 to 11pm. Anyone can come, enjoy the music, have a drink and a cheap meal... Everyone should! Come see me and say 'P3' - I'll know where you're from!

Stand by, MP3 are almsot here...

Windy & Warm
This great standrad made famous by Doc Watson, a true guitar geneous, is a perfect way to start a show

Nashvile Blues
Originally a banjo driven tune by Earl Scruggs I like to play on a mandolin. Guitar provides a rhythm body to this piece

After Hours
This is an original tune that came about when lying awake in bed with a bed case of flue.
'After Hours' is when I get to do what I really love - playing music!

Tears
Django Rheinhardt is an icon to just about every guitar player.
With three working fingers on his fire damaged hand Django transformed acoustic jazz in 40s and his style is going strong today by fantastically good Gypsy guitarists all over the world. Here is my tratement of one of his more sentimental tunes. BTW, my dog proudly bears his name.
